Workshop information

Julie VerdiniLandscape photography allows us to explore and analyze our relationship to the environments we move through. Portland affords us the opportunity to approach the landscape in a myriad of ways. Whether you seek out pristine natural beauty or prefer everyday features of industrial culture, there is a way to express your unique vision of our modern landscape.

Workshop venue

Northwest Center for Photography (NCP), 1028 SE Water Avenue, Suite 50, Portland, OR 97214, and various locations in and around the Portland-metro area.

Workshop format

This class blends field trips, outdoor shooting assignments and critiques with readings and discussions about place, as well as historical and contemporary landscape photographers.

Workshop agenda

Topics include preparing for the outdoors, setting up a shot, understanding lenses and exposure and developing the skills that allow us to concentrate on making images. Discussions of photographic techniques deepen students’ awareness of how to approach the landscape photographically. Students should bring their portfolios, if they have them, to the first class.
